Once again Chateau Boswell and Bevan Cellars were honored to be among the top auction bids for their joint Premiere Auction Lot "Rock On"; a tongue in cheek description for the Napa Valley Red Wine Blend which exhibits intense fruit from exceptional rocky volcanic soils. The rocky soils are pivotal: obsidian and volcanic tuff at Boswell Estate and basaltic igneous at Sugarloaf Mountain. With a kiss of Cabernet Franc and Clone 4 Cabernet Sauvignon from Boswell providing a fruit-driven canvas of floral and tobacco notes and Bevan’s Merlot from Sugarloaf Mountain providing a powerfully rich and seductive texture this wine "rocks". The winning bidder, The Wine Library of New Jersey, paid $85,000 for 10 cases of the Boswell Bevan blend ROCK ON!
Premiere Napa Valley exceeded all expectations with 2014 the greatest amount ever achieved in the history of this auction, over $6 million dollars nearly double that of PNV 2013 which speaks well for the economy, the vintage, and for the consistent and exceptional quality of Napa Valley Wines and their market share in the wine market worldwide. The top winning bid was for Scarecrow, topping their past record by more than double at $260,000. The Wine House of LA was the winning bidder after a thrilling bidding exchange. Needless to say this was one fun auction a "must attend" event for trade and media globally. In addition to the annual PNV auction, vintners open their doors to host bidders at Premiere Preview parties at wineries throughout the Napa Valley. Chateau Boswell's event has become a legend on the Silverado Trail with over 400 trade and media guests attending and 37 vintners pouring their Premiere lots and latest releases.
