Late winter in the Napa Valley means vineyards painted with golden mustard, and enthusiastic tourists pulled over on the side of road, cameras in hand to capture the swaths of yellow flowers. At wineries the barrels age quietly in the caves, the cacophony clinks from a bottling line, and here at Chateau Boswell, preparations begin for Premiere Napa Valley.
Our annual tasting in the caves on February 20th is highly anticipated by the trade and media who come from all parts of the globe to meet with Napa Valley’s most celebrated winemakers and vintners pouring their Premiere Auction lots and current release wines. Our festivities are part of Premiere Napa Valley; the Napa Valley Vintners’ annual barrel auction to the trade only of rare one of a kind wines blended just for this event held at the Culinary Institute of America on February 21st.
Chateau Boswell lot # 221, created by winemaker Russell Bevan, is titled Green with eNVy, a tongue in cheek reference to the Napa Valley’s focus on stewardship through the Napa Green certification program and to Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, a jewel in the crown of winemaking the world over. Green with Envy anyone?
Chateau Boswell is Napa Valley’s first certified Napa Green Winery. For more information on the Napa Green Winery and Land Certification Program http://chateauboswell.com/sustainability/
